DUET 1st Alumni Excellence Awards 2025 DUET Honors Its Luminaries at the 1st Alumni Excellence Awards Ceremony 2025

13th December 2025: Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET) proudly hosted its 1st Alumni Excellence Awards Ceremony 2025, a landmark celebration recognizing the remarkable achievements of its alumni across academia, research, industry, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and national service. Despite varying commitments and schedules, Dawoodians from multiple generations came together to demonstrate their unwavering support for their alma mater, honoring peers and predecessors whose dedication and leadership have made significant contributions to Pakistan and society.

Awardees for the 1st Alumni Excellence Awards Ceremony 2025 include:

• Dr. Mansoor uz Zafar Dawood (Batch of 1979) – Vice Chancellor, ILMA University, Karachi – in recognition of his Excellence in Academia and outstanding contributions to higher education and institutional development.

• Engr. Farhat Khan (Batch of 1978) – Chancellor, Nazeer Hussain University – in recognition of his Excellence in Academia and visionary leadership across engineering, business, and governance.

• Brig. Engr. Zafar Masood Ansari (Batch of 1964) – Pakistan Army (Retd.) – in recognition of his Excellence in Research & Development and distinguished service in national defense and technological indigenization.

• Dr. Mubarak Shah (Batch of 1979) – Internationally renowned researcher in Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence – in recognition of his global academic impact and Excellence in Research & Development.

• Ar. Syed Arif Shah (Batch of 1992) – Director, Arif Shah Private Limited – in recognition of his Excellence in Entrepreneurship and leadership in architectural design and project management.

• Engr. Humayun Qureshi (Batch of 1964) – Founder, DATALOG – in recognition of his Excellence in Entrepreneurship and pioneering contributions to IT, IoT, and technology training.

• Engr. Azhar Zia ur Rehman (Batch of 1976) – Former Director, Etisalat Group and Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); Head, Ministry of IT Advisory Committee on Information Security (Pakistan). Governance, AI Transformation & Technology Ethics Leader; Consultant to UNDP and Government of Pakistan. – in recognition of his Excellence in Entrepreneurship and national contributions to AI ethics, cybersecurity, and digital governance.

• Engr. Ashar Hayat Siddiqui (Batch of 1987) – Manager, FTTH Deployment TNSS Global, USA, Telecom Industry Leader – in recognition of his Excellence in Industry and leadership in national telecom infrastructure development.

• Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan (Batch 1974)– Founder & CEO, Ufone, Chairman & Managing Director, Pakistan Television (PTV), and Chairman & Director General, Pakistan Post, in recognition of his Excellence in Industry and transformative leadership in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector.

• Engr. Mohammad Wasi Khan (Batch of 1978) – Former Chairman and CEO, Cnergyico Pk Ltd (formerly known as Byco Petroleum Pakistan Ltd), Former Deputy Managing Director, National Refinery Limited (NRL).–in recognition of his Excellence in Industry and leadership in oil, refinery, and petrochemical development.

• Ar. Muhammad Faiz Kidwai (Batch of 1983) – Senior Architect & Rotary Humanitarian Leader; Director of Large-Scale Health, Education, Community Development, and Disaster-Relief Initiatives– in recognition of his Excellence in Philanthropy and lifelong commitment to healthcare, education, and community development.

• Ar. Aqeel Abbas Jafri (Batch of 1979) – Architect, Cultural Historian & Researcher; Chief Editor, Urdu Dictionary Board; Compiler of Pakistan Chronicle– in recognition of his Excellence in Philanthropy through preservation of Pakistan’s history, language, and heritage.

• Engr. Meraj Ahmed Khawaja (Batch of 1978) – Professional Engineer – in recognition of his Excellence in Philanthropy and service to Pakistan’s engineering community.

• Engr. Jamal Zuberi (Batch of 1973) – Veteran Engineer – in recognition of his Excellence in Philanthropy through mentorship, skill development, and community service.

• Ar. Parween Rehman (Late) (1957–2013) (Batch of 1977) – Architect and Social Activist – posthumously recognized for Excellence in Philanthropy and transformative contributions to community-led urban development.

• Engr. Hafiz ul Haq Siddiqui (Batch of 1964) – Senior Engineering Professional – in recognition of his Excellence in Philanthropy and lifelong dedication to mentoring and professional development.

• Ar. Shah Monis (Batch of 1980) – Chief Architect and Director Works at the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority – in recognition of Excellence in Lifetime Achievement in architectural practice.

• Engr. Mukhtiar Ali Sheikh (Batch of 1978) – PEC Vice Chairman (Sindh), Ex Deputy Director, Pakistan Customs (FBR)– in recognition of Excellence in Lifetime Achievement for national service, institutional leadership, and professional reform.

• Brig. Engr. Asif Jawed Ghori (Batch of 1964) – Pakistan Army (Retd.) rendered exceptional service to Pakistan in engineering, nuclear weapons development, and missile launch systems, including leadership roles in PAEC’s strategic programs for Shaheen and HATF missiles. – in recognition of Excellence in Lifetime Achievement and exceptional contributions to Pakistan’s strategic defense capabilities.

• Engr. Shokat Islam Rizvi (Batch of 1964) – Special Recognition – honored as DCET’s First Alumnus (Roll No. 01) and a pioneer of the Dawoodian legacy.

Engr. Dr. Nadia Mustaqeem Ansari, Director Alumni Affairs, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and alumni, expressing her sincere appreciation for their presence and continued support of their alma mater. She highlighted the significance of the inaugural Alumni Excellence Awards, eloquently presenting the award recipients and sharing insights into their remarkable achievements, leadership journeys, and lasting contributions to their respective fields, underscoring the exceptional impact that made them worthy of this honor.

Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), Vice Chancellor of DUET, addressed the gathering by emphasizing that the legacy of Dawood University extends far beyond the classroom. She reflected on the inspiring success stories of DUET alumni who have excelled nationally and internationally, shaping academia, industry, research, public service, and community development. The Vice Chancellor also highlighted DUET’s continued growth and evolution over the decades, reaffirming the University’s commitment to academic excellence and its mission to empower meritorious students to contribute meaningfully at both national and global levels.

During the ceremony, award recipients shared reflections on their time at DUET, acknowledging the role of the University’s academic foundation, discipline, and values in shaping their professional careers and personal journeys. Their remarks resonated deeply with the audience, serving as a source of inspiration for current students and reaffirming the enduring bond between DUET and its alumni.
